Fine Arts, AA - Theatre and Film

Transfer
This Associate of Arts degree prepares you to transfer to a 4-year college or university.Our program is a balanced blend of courses in performance, education, and technical skills. You’ll have the opportunity to explore all aspects of theatre and film. We also stage five to seven productions each season. This gives you ample opportunities to act, write, design, direct, produce and become involved with the technical side of the business.
Length 2 Years
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 60 credits for this program in four terms.

We’re lucky enough to have two programs - one on Central Campus and one on South Campus. Explore each program and see what they each have to offer.
 Central Campus Theatre

The Central Campus theatre program puts on at least five productions a year. It is led by 10 seasoned faculty members who have extensive experience in the theatre industry.

South Campus Theatre

The South Campus program is led by Dr. Jonelle Walker. Not only does it hold multiple productions a semester, but it also holds Student Initiated Projects (SIPs). SIPs are performances organized, designed, and run completely by students.

Ivins honored as Texas Education Theatre Association Educator of the Year

Central Campus Theatre and Film Artistic Director

Ivins has taught at San Jac for 28 years. He is not only the artistic director for the College's Central Campus theatre program but he is also heavily involved in the University Interscholastic League one-act play competition as a judge, an adjudicator, and a licensed contest manager.

He runs two area and two regional contests and the state one-act play contest each year for 4A, 5A, and 6A schools. He has served the 
Texas Educational Theatre Association since 2006 as Convention Director for thirteen years and served on the Board of Directors for five years.
