The Solomon Amendment is a Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) exception. Under this federal law, military recruiters can access some address, biographical, and academic program information on students age 17 and older.
According to the Department of Education, the Solomon Amendment supersedes most elements
of FERPA. Therefore, we’re obligated to release data included in the list of “Student
Recruiting Information.” The information here may or may not match San Jacinto College's
FERPA directory information list.

Yes. To do this, you must restrict the release of your Directory Information through My San Jac - SOS Login link. Once logged in, you can make the request under the “Student Records”
tab. When this request is submitted, no information from your education record will
be released under the Solomon Amendment.
