CPET safety day, trick or treat open to community
PASADENA, Texas — Grab your Halloween costume, flashlight, and treat bag and head over to the LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology (CPET) at San Jacinto College's Central Campus Oct. 29 for a fun-filled, spooktacular time for all ages. The facility will host a Community Safety Day and trick or treat event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. that includes more than a dozen activities for kids of all ages.
From water balloon fights to virtual-reality welding, kids can show off their Halloween costumes and gather treats while parents enjoy the golf chipping challenge and informational demonstrations on safety and CPET offerings such as the glycol unit.
"This is an opportunity for the adults in the community to visit CPET and learn more about what we do while the kids have a safe, fun time getting treats and prizes," said Jeff Pearce, CPET coordinator for education and workforce. "We will have the glycol unit running and various activities set up that showcase the skills San Jac students learn at CPET."
This is a trick or treat event like no other. Kids will participate in a blacklight scavenger hunt, use their deductive reasoning skills to solve mysteries, and chuck water balloons at a hazmat suit to better understand its durability. All of these events are sure to be exciting and educational.
